The Pegu Khola Small Hydropower Project (PKSHP) was identified by Bigu Hydro Venture Pvt. Ltd. (BHVPL) following a detailed study conducted by the company. Initially, a survey license (Bi.Bi.Bi. 072/73 Bi.Uh.Sa.709) was issued under the name of Ms. Sabitri Shrestha by the Department of Electricity Development (DoED), under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), on 3rd Poush 2072 B.S. (18th December 2015) for a proposed installed capacity of 3.45 MW.

The license was subsequently renewed on 5th Poush 2074 B.S. (20th December 2017) and formally transferred to BHVPL on 13th Chaitra 2074 B.S. (27th March 2018). BHVPL later received the generation license (Bi.Bi.Bi.077/78 Bi.U.311) on 11th Bhadra 2077 B.S. (27th August 2020). A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between BHVPL and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on 30th Ashad 2079 B.S. (14th July 2022) for an installed capacity of 3.45 MW. The project is located at Bigu Rural Municipality, Dolakha District, Nepal.

The Mathillo Sagu Khola Small Hydropower Project (MSKSHP) was identified by Alampu Jalabidhyut Bikash Company Pvt. Ltd. (AJBCPL) following a reconnaissance study conducted by the company. AJBCPL obtained the survey license for the project from the Department of Electricity Development (DoED) under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEnWRI), Government of Nepal, on 3rd Poush 2072 B.S. Subsequently, the company was granted the generation license (Bi.Bi.Bi.078/79 Bi.U.372) on 5th Ashad 2079 B.S.

In addition, AJBCPL signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for a capacity of 10 MW on 29th Magh 2080 B.S. To support the project’s development, AJBCPL appointed Sanima Hydro and Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (SHEPL) to conduct the updated feasibility study. The project is situated in Bigu Rural Municipality, Dolakha District, within Bagmati Province, Nepal.

White Water Energy Pvt Ltd has proposed to develop the Lower Loti Karnali Khola Hydropower Project (PRoR) with a capacity of 47.7 MW. The project remains in the PPA pipeline or updated feasibility study stage. The Lower Loti Karnali Hydropower Project (LLKHPP) is a 47.7 MW Peaking Run-of-River hydropower project located in Soru Rural Municipality, Mugu District, Karnali Province, Nepal.

The project harnesses the flow of Loti Karnali Khola using a design discharge of 37.17 m³/s, with headworks at 1,586 masl and a surface powerhouse at 1,425 masl, achieving a net head of 150.51 m. Its infrastructure includes a 35-metre concrete gravity dam, underground settling basin, headrace tunnel, surge shaft, and three vertical Francis turbines, with power evacuated via a 10 km, 132 kV transmission line to Humla Substation.

The project is estimated to generate 263.71 GWh of annual sellable energy and has a total project cost of NPR 8.10 billion, financed at a 30:70 equity-to-loan ratio, yielding an IRR of 15.03% and a B/C ratio of 1.51 over a 35-year license period. Based on comprehensive field investigations, engineering design, and financial analysis, the project has been confirmed to be technically feasible and financially viable, and its implementation is recommended upon completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
